Livermore, in the Tri-Valley region, just 33 miles east of San Francisco, is one of the state’s oldest wine-growing areas and home to more than four dozen wineries, most of them in the Livermore Valley and more than half of them dog-friendly. Its signature varietal is petit syrah.
