Eastern Sierra Scenic Byway

Eastern Sierra Scenic Byway

The federally designated Eastern Sierra Scenic Byway (Highway 395) skirts the eastern flank of the Sierra Nevada, offering stunning views and many turnoffs to hikes, hotels, historic sites and other places of interest to DogTrekkers.

The byway officially begins just over the California border in Topaz, Nev., and continues 250 miles south through the Mono Lake Basin, the Mammoth Lakes Area, the recreational paradise of Bishop and landscapes familiar from hundreds of TV Westerns and movies filmed around Lone Pine.

Twenty three wayside interpretive exhibits describe the natural and cultural history of the area. Maps are available at any Eastern Sierra visitor center or chamber of commerce.
