First observed in 1999, Take Your Dog to Work Day, sponsored by Pet Sitters International, was created to celebrate the great companions dog make and to encourage their adoption. This annual event asks pet lovers to celebrate the humane-canine bond and promote pet adoption by encouraging their employers to support the special day.

In addition, the entire week, June 18-22, has been designated Take Your Pet To Work Week™. So, if your company is closed on Fridays or if you want to invite all types of pets, select any day during the week to host a special event at your workplace.
