McKinley Park

McKinley Park

Sacramento’s McKinley Park has more than 30 acres for you and your dog to explore. The park was built in 1871 by the Sacramento Street Railway Company to attract passengers for their trains. At that time, the park was called East Park and was a popular spot for picnicking and community events.

In 1902 the park was purchased by the city of Sacramento, and the name of the park was changed to McKinley Park. Today, McKinley Park is a popular recreation spot, with picnic tables, barbecues and a playground.

The park also features a beautiful rose garden and a lake. Dog walkers will appreciate the 1-mile walking path around the park. Please remember to pick up after your dog and always keep them on a leash.
