Inn at the Presidio

Inn at the Presidio

The 26-room Inn at the Presidio is more than just the newest hotel in San Francisco.  It’s also the first hotel in the historic Presidio,  and one of several developments opening the 1,500-acre urban forest and former military base to new possibilities for visitors.

First- and second-floor rooms at the dog-friendly inn, which was built in 1903 and once was home to unmarried Army officers, have access to broad verandahs where you and Fido can hang out and enjoy views of a leafy, century-old neighborhood. Decor is Ralph Lauren-esque soothing, with many historic artifacts incorporated into the mix. Overnight parking is $6.

The fire pit out back is a great place to enjoy complimentary wine and cheese served in the afternoon. While there is no restaurant, a generous buffet breakfast also is included in the rates (no dogs in the dining room, please). Restaurants with dog-friendly patios (open in warm weather) are within walking distance.

The Ecology Trail, a 1.4-mile path leading through diverse habitats to Inspiration Point for panoramic views of the Bay and the City skyline is close by. More than 20 additional miles of trails lace the area.
