The mission of The Milo Foundation, an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill organization, is to rescue homeless at-risk animals throughout Northern California, match them to homes best suited to provide lifetime care, rehabilitate those who need it, offer sanctuary to those who are not placed, and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, including spay/neuter.
2015 has been a landmark year for The Milo Foundation. Celebrating its 21st year, Milo has saved and found homes for 1600 animals this year, an average of more than 5 a day!
Having dedicated the last 10 years to creating a viable Adoption Center in the Bay Area, The Milo Foundation's Milo Adoption Center aka Milo Point Richmond, has new kennels and their 3/4 acre dog park, “The Dino & Nancy Ghilotti Memorial Dog Park” is a beautiful asset for the dogs. Milo is thriving in Point Richmond and has become a welcome community institution.
Happy to be settled in and thriving at Point Richmond, it is time for Milo to to turn its focus on the needs of its Sanctuary in Mendocino County. The Sanctuary, located on two hundred and eighty-three acres in Willits, CA offers lots of room for the animals to run and play. It's a place where special dogs and cats and a few other species who would not do well in the hustle and bustle of a shelter environment because they need time to heal can be given the time and the space they need at the Sanctuary to heal, to learn, and for many, develop into adoptable pets and find homes.

Built 22 years ago, The Milo Sanctuary has become worn, rusted and weary. The Milo Foundation is raising funds to improve the Sanctuary to make it a safe, warm and welcoming environment for the animals in Milo's care. With a more comfortable and accessible Sanctuary, Milo can invite more people to come spend time with the animals – and that will lead to more of them finding their special homes, sooner.
