Love GPS? There’s an app for that!

If your vision of a California desert vacation includes blue sky, purple mountains, nodding palm trees and lots of dog-friendly things to do and places to see, there is no place better than Greater Palm Springs! And whether you are planning your trip or have paws on the ground, the free DogTrekker mobile app is a great resource to explore the region.

With the app’s “Explore” mode, you can choose from more than 75 dog-friendly places to stay, including hotels, RV parks and campgrounds. And of course, you can go retro in a dog-friendly Airstream trailer. Once you arrive in one of the nine towns that make up the region, switch to the “Nearby” mode to check out more five dozen patios restaurant where both you and your pup are welcome. You can check menus, call the restaurants and get directions, right on the app.

As far as activities, the DogTrekker app also has you covered. More than a dozen dog parks and two dozen trails in and around Greater Palm Springs have been integrated into the app, complete with descriptions, distances, difficulty levels and directions. The “Events” tab on the app lists up and coming events where your dog can join you.

When it’s time to pamper or get a recommendation for a massage, dog sitting, a groomer or more, the app has dozens of local services with links to the companyies websites, phone numbers, addresses and directions. In the unfortunate case that you need emergency care or your dog gets loose, the app has direct links to the nearest 24-hour hospital and the region’s animal care and control shelter.

All in all, there are more than 350 dog-friendly listings in Greater Palm Springs and the surrounding areas that you will find on the DogTrekker mobile app.
