This historic and atmospheric inn (circa 1877) in downtown Bridgeport has lodge rooms in the main building and a pet-friendly, one-story motel wing out back. The hotel closes Nov. 15 through February for the winter season, and the restaurant is dark on Wednesdays. WiFi is available in the lobby.
Bridgeport is a logical overnight spot for travelers headed down scenic Highway 395, and it's just a half-hour from Bodie Historic State Park, a fascinating ghost town preserved in a state of "arrested decay."
