South Lykken Trail

South Lykken Trail

While this trail is a moderately strenuous hike, you will be rewarded with fantastic views of Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, and down into Tahquitz Canyon. If you have never hiked in the Palm Springs area, it is recommended that you do this one first. There are picnic tables at each end to rest and check out the panoramic views.

Hiking on the South Lykken Trail Palm Springs

The south end of this trail is accessed by going south on South Palm Canyon Drive about 250 feet after Canyon Heights Road. You know you are there when you pass the last of the condos and houses on the right just before the open fields. The north end of the trail begins at the end of Mesquite Road. Parking for hikers is not allowed at the Tahquitz Canyon Visitor Center, so park down by Palm Canyon and walk to the trailhead, which is near the center.

Help us keep this trail beautiful and dog-friendly:

• If in an off-leash area, keep your dog under voice command
