Join in this 20th anniversary celebration for a day packed with fun and exciting things to do for dogs and people. While purebred dogs are welcome to compete (or just enjoy the show), the focus of this family-fun event is on pets of any mix or breed. Competition categories include Best Costume, Most Interesting Mix, and other fun contests.
Admission is free. See website for cost of registering dogs.
Food trucks and booths will be on hand with a wide variety of cuisine. There will be a water park for dogs to romp in and a bounce house for kids to bounce in. Information and vendor booths range from rescue dog organizations to handmade pet blankets and doggie boutiques.
Canine demonstrations include a diabetes-alert dog, and Fremont Police Department K9/handler teams that will show how dogs help fight crime and catch criminals.
Tickets will be on sale for drawings featuring unique prizes, which in past years have included Dinner for Four at the Firehouse and teeth whitening.
A pancake breakfast ($5.00) for early birds starts at 9 a.m., as well as registration of dogs not yet registered.
The first Niles Dog Show in 1998 featured one food vendor, a T-shirt vendor, a dog-supplies vendor and a sheep-herding demonstration. Today the show has grown to be a major community event every summer. Check it out and you'll see why!
