Music and More in Livermore

With 38 wineries in the Tri-Valley region, it's hard to stand out if you're not Wente, Concannon or Red Feather. Yes, Red Feather. This little winery in the rolling hills of Alameda County was named the No. 2 Livermore Winery on SFGate's 2010 Best of the Bay List, which is based on consumer nominations. Visitors to Red Feather are welcome to stroll with their pets on a mile-long walking trail surrounding a 23-acre property also inhabited by goats, chickens, horses, a 13-year-old yellow lab and a two-year-old border collie. "Come, bring your dog, have a picnic," says owner/winemaker Connie Davis, who also makes and sells doggie treats during the holiday season. Red Feather sponsors lots of dog-friendly events throughout the year, including live music in the tasting room on weekends. Dogs are welcome indoors anytime except during wine-making season, when they understandably are banished to the great outdoors.
