Is Yosemite Dog-Friendly?

“Is Yosemite dog-friendly?” That’s one of the questions most commonly asked by DogTrekker readers. The answer depends on how “Yosemite” is defined. We at DogTrekker define it as the four-county region surrounding Yosemite National Park. This month is very exciting as DogTrekker.com celebrates the launch of this dog-friendly region with both this newsletter and a brand new "Yosemite Region" section on the website.

The first county to launch in our pages is Mariposa County, affectionately known as the "Mother of Counties" because it initially encompassed one-fifth of the state of California. Mariposa County's boundaries include part of Yosemite National Park as well as the scenic Highway 140 corridor.

As part of our Yosemite Region launch, the dog-passionate Groveland Hotel on Highway 120 in Tuolumne County, close to the northern entrance to the park, is providing this month’s DogCation. You and your best friends can win a two-night stay in a "really nice room" in this award-winning hotel. The deal includes a full breakfast each morning, a dinner voucher for the Cellar Door Restaurant and wine tasting at pet-friendly Gianelli Vineyards in Jamestown. Enter here.
