Smack downtown in the middle of the action surrounding the new Golden 1 Center (home of the Sacramento Kings), the new, 260-room Kimpton Sawyer co-anchors a developing retail and entertainment district called Downtown Commons (DoCo for short). Like every Kimpton, this one welcomes pets of all shapes, sizes and breeds at no extra charge, and pampers them and their people with loaner beds, bowls, pick-up bags and other amenities. And yes, they’re welcome to join you in the lobby for the nightly wine reception!

Just outside the hotel are several busy restaurants with dog-friendly patios (Punch Bowl Social and Sauced are the most prominent, with the hotel-connected Echo & Rigg set to open soon). DogTrekkers who need a break from downtown commotion will find it just a stroll away in the Old Sacramento historic district on the Sacramento River, and on the 32-mile bike trail that follows the river from there all the way to historic downtown Folsom.
