We went cyber-shopping on Cyber Monday and came up with some unusual gift ideas sure to put a ho-ho-ho in any dog-lover’s holiday. CafePress’s “funny dogs gifts” page lists some good ones, from “The DogFather” t-shirts, $24, to a “Dog is my Co-Pirate” bumper sticker, $40 for a 10-pack. On the ChimpFeet site, we spied something novel: garden topiary frames shaped for 24 breeds, from basset hound to Yorkie, available filled with sphagnum moss or as bare wire frames, priced from $65 to $295. (Curious, we searched some more and found many other sources for these.)
Are there multiple dogs on your gift list? If you’re handy in the kitchen, you can bake professional looking treats in a six-bone muffin pan, $19.99 from PawShop (yes, they carry canine cake mix, too). Or maybe you appreciate well made, heirloom-quality objects. Among the more beautiful items we spied as we surfed around the net is a copper patina photo album, $56, individually handmade in San Francisco and embossed with a dog bone. It’s available from UncommonGoods. Moving into breed-specific mode, we found a huge selection of merchandise at the DogShoppe, which carries items ranging from calendars, car mats and coasters to trivets, ceiling-fan pulls and even trailer-hitch covers imprinted with art work featuring the breed of your choice. With more than 100 breeds to choose from, we give this dogcentric site a definite tails up!
