San Jose's upscale Santana Row
shopping, dining and entertainment district is always a prime place for people- and pooch-watching—especially around Bastille Day (July 14), when many establishments stage French-flavored events. French dogs are the focus on Sunday, when LB Steak
puts on its sixth annual Poodle Parade
benefiting Hospice of the Valley Pet Companion Program
. Both spectators and their dogs can enjoy a special cocktail and appetizer menu on the dog-friendly patio as poodles (other breeds also welcome) strut their stuff on the red carpet. A live MC, musical entertainment, raffle prizes and services of a pet valet are part of the program. Registration, $10, includes a souvenir photo. Parading begins at noon.
