Perhaps the nicest thing a dog-lover can do for canines in need is to help place them in loving homes. Over the last 11 years, German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California has saved over 3000 dogs—301 last year alone, thanks to a dedicated network of volunteers, trainers, and sympathetic veterinarians. Unlike many groups who cherry-pick the cutest and most quickly "adoptable" dogs from shelters and leave the rest to their fate, GSRNC strives to save them all, from the very old or terminally ill GSDs who receive loving hospice care as needed, to the young and rambunctious who might need more manners before they're ready for a home.  more »
