This family-run winery a block off the Healdsburg plaza produces some yummy reds, which can be purchased in regular wine bottles or in the winery's distinctive milk bottles, a nod to family traditions in the Piemonte region of Italy.

The tasting room, with its sexy vintage Vespa and distinctive purple furniture, is especially inviting to DogTrekkers as it offers a place to sit and relax with your pup.

Please check winery website for days and hours of operation.

If you and your fur buddy have only a day or two to spend in large and diverse Sonoma County, it’s wise to pick a region (such as the Alexander, Dry Creek or Russian River valleys) and stick to it. But you won’t have to spend all your time driving country roads. Sonoma’s urban areas also offer ample opportunities to taste, often within walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

In Santa Rosa, for example, Vintners Square is a fast-expanding “urban wine village” with three tasting rooms, a craft brewery, shops, restaurants and lots of dog-friendly patios. At nearby Cornerstone Sonoma, site of Sunset magazine’s new demonstration gardens and outdoor test kitchen, you can wine-taste at two venues between exploring a variety of home-and-garden shops. more »

Three major appellations are represented by Wine Road Northern Sonoma County, an association of about 150 wineries and 50 lodging properties in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys. The majority of the wineries are dog-friendly, at least in outdoor spaces, and Fido’s tail will be wagging no matter which one you choose to nip into on your next wine-tasting weekend. more »
