Meet cuddler extraordinaire Dilly at the East Bay SPCA's Dublin facility, where he's currently waiting for the people who will love him forever so he can love them back. This sweet little guy with the big, soulful brown eyes is a Chihuahua/Cairn terrier mix, about 1 1/2 years old, and has won many fans with his affectionate, low-maintenance disposition. Nick, waiting for a homeNick is just one of the dogs currently in the care of the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society while they're waiting for their homes—and just one of the dogs who will be helped in a big way by the 15th Annual Bay to Barkers, coming up Sunday, July 29. For 15 years now it's been the East Bay's premier event for dogs and their humans to see and be seen, all in support of Berkeley Humane's adoption programs, training classes, veterinary services and more to help the community's animals in their time of need. DogTrekker will be there and we hope to see you!   Photo: Nick—Berkeley East Bay Humane Society  more »

All that seemed doomed in 2010 when a devastating fire struck the shelter. But overwhelming support from volunteers, donors and the community, as most dramatically seen in July at the annual Bay to Barkers event, has enabled the organization to literally rise from the ashes and continue its lifesaving work. more »
