Dozens of Napa Valley wineries welcome dogs, but restless Rovers don't contribute to a good experience in the tasting room. Solution: pay a pre-tasting visit to Alston Park Canine Commons Dog Park, a designated section of a 157-acre open space preserve where off-leash play is permitted. There's a fenced area as well as an unfenced flat space where dogs can run unencumbered, along with miles of trails leading into a hilly landscape that is brutally hot in summer but comfortable during the winter months. Burn off some steam before swirling your cabernet and give thanks to the City of Napa for providing such a resource. Cheers!
