Formerly the Doris Day Pet Foundation, the Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF) is a national, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1978 by legendary performer Doris Day.

The organization is dedicated to the proposition that we can create caring communities by acknowledging the significant interrelationship between animal welfare and human development.

Actress and animal advocate Doris Day celebrated her 88th birthday this year, and it will come as no surprise that her love of animals and highly practical commitment to their welfare in the Doris Day Animal Foundation, which turns 35 this year, is as strong as ever. (Or that Carmel's Cypress Inn, which she's co-owned for over two decades, remains legendary for its pet-friendly hospitality.) Indeed, this past spring she was helping out the SPCA for Monterey County with its annual telethon—and wound up adopting one of their foundlings.  more »
