San Luis Obispo County’s Paso Robles wine region was voted 2013's Wine Region of the Year by the Wine Enthusiast Magazine. And based on the number of wineries that are dog-friendly, the region deserves an award from dog enthusiasts as well.
You can always drive yourself and your pup around, of course, but there’s an alternative in dog-friendly Breakaway Tours, which has been uncorking dog-friendly wineries on the Central Coast since 1995. You’ll ride in comfort to three or four wineries where your dog will receive a warm welcome. Another option is the Wine Line, a hop-on, hop-off tour service that lets you create your own itinerary from a list of more than 60 Paso Robles wineries. Well behaved canine visitors who can sit in your lap or between your legs are welcome to ride.

Adelaida Winery is a “must see” for dog lovers with a passion for wine. This family-owned farm is certified through the Sustainability in Practice program and brings a long list of accolades to the table. Dogs are encouraged and attended to with fresh water and locally made organic dog treats. Eberle Winery boasts 16,000 square feet of underground caves, and while dogs aren’t allowed there, they’re welcome to join you in the handsome redwood tasting room. If you’re traveling up the coast, don’t miss Moonstone Cellars’ tasting room on Main Street in Cambria’s West Village.
