Dogtrekker would not be what it is today without the efforts of our famous barketing department. Kayla, our first director of barketing™, was our founding dog, the inspiration for this site. Today Maya carries on the work, sniffing out the best spots in California to take your dog, and awarding her paw of approval to her favorite spots.

Monterey Bay Labrador Retriever Rescue 2018

Maya, DogTrekker's Director of Barketing™, says: "It's been a busy year for me since last spring, what with all the new responsibilities I've taken on here at the office and settling in with Rox and Dave. Things are pretty sweet for me now—which is a big relief. Like many dogs of Carmel, I had a pretty great life back in the day. Then my owner died, and it all fell a  Read more.

By Roxanne & Dave Kendrick, Co-founders of DogTrekker.com The story of Kayla, DogTrekker.com’s late and much missed Director of Barketing, was one of the best-read newsletter stories of 2016. Thanks to all our readers who read her story and sent their best wishes. It’s been more than six months since Kayla crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and time for us to find our next furr-ever dog.  Read more.

Kayla’s life-saving contribution

Two years after the launch of DogTrekker.com, Kayla got very sick, or at least we thought she did. Still a healthy, nine-year-old Lab with boundless energy, she became quiet, lethargic and not really that interested in food. She followed Roxanne around the house, whining constantly. Tests were done to rule out many potential issues, including cancer. The results were negative but still troubling,   Read more.

One of Kayla's favorite walks as a 'senior' dog was along the San Rafael waterfront adjacent to Loch Lomond Marina. She began walking this trail as a puppy some 14 years ago. Back then, this was a rough rock-strewn path that leads around the spit that ends at the entrance to the marina. Kayla's favorite walk along the water.
