Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary reports that, thanks to the kind generosity of lots of volunteers and supporters, 2017 has been a great year for the dogs in their care. At Lily’s, large-breed senior dogs who find themselves homeless have a safe haven for their golden years, whether they live out their days at the sanctuary or find new forever families.
Barkley, an elderly German shepherd, stayed with Lily’s almost 14 months—but it was worth the wait. He found the perfect home with 40 acres to explore. He goes to work with his dad, has formed a strong bond with his mom, and he even went camping.
Another happy story comes from Lola, a pit bull with a winning personality who’d been in two different homes before coming to Lily’s. Luckily for her, one of the volunteers fell in love with this sweetie, and that was just the beginning. First Lola earned her Canine Good Citizen certificate. Now she goes to work with her new mom in the library of a local high school.
As Lily’s Legacy prepared for its December 10 luminaria celebration, honoring pets past and current and the bond we share with them, founder Alice Mayn sent out a message of gratitude for the volunteers and supporters who make its work possible. ”A big thank you to everyone who has been a supporter of our dream, our vision, and our cause,” she says. “Together we are making a difference!”
Just ask Barkley and Lola.
