Discover more Mendocino County magic along Highway 128, which wiggles past parks, nature reserves and wineries for 55 miles between Cloverdale and the coast. From destinations throughout the peaceful Anderson Valley, known for fog-influenced wines like chardonnay and gewürztraminer, to the low-key charm of the famed Boonville Hotel, this is California paradise with a pup-centric twist.

Pretty Anderson Valley is home to the high-profile Yorkville Highlands and Navarro wine regions. Many tasting rooms here hand out special treats to make dogs feel as welcome as their human companions. Navarro Vineyards, just off Highway 128 near Philo, has water bowls and an enclosed exercise area where pups can run around. Nearby, Husch Vineyards is a local mainstay that pours its wines in a rustic 19th-century pony barn.

On the edge of Boonville, Pennyroyal Farm is a dog-friendly stop for wine, cheese and farmstead fun – including an occasional sheep-herding demonstration by the estate’s border collies. You’ll often meet local dogs at nearby Foursight Wines, as well. Just up the road, Mosswood Market Cafe has outdoor seating for pups and people, along with decadent baked goods and hearty panini options available at lunchtime. If you’re exploring the Mendocino County Beer Trail, don’t forget to swing by the beer garden at Boonville’s Anderson Valley Brewing.
