Find fall fun with your dog on the shores of South Lake Tahoe

By: DogTrekker Staff
A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Fall is a great time to visit Lake Tahoe, thanks to fewer crowds, comfortable weather, and, of course, that dazzling blue water. Wild Blue Dogs holds their Fall Camp activities September 16 – 22 on a fenced, 33-acre property between Edgewood Golf Course and Zephyr Cove, on the Nevada side of the lake. (The facility doubles as a midsummer 4-H camp).

FALL CAMP

The Wild Blue Dogs all-inclusive camp agenda includes fun, camaraderie, and training in disciplines ranging from agility and lure-coursing to nose work and pup photography. Check out a sample day.

When you sign up for Fall Camp, you’ll chose from three lodging options. It’s bring-your-own sleeping bag and toiletries for the on-site 4-H cabins, where you’ll be assigned a roommate for your adventure. A few minutes down the road in South Lake Tahoe, participants can stay at the dog-passionate Tahoe Beach Retreat and Lodge. Or you can make your own reservations off-site.

Wild Blue Dogs is on a mission to save lives. Giving back is central to everything the Wild Blue Dog team does. It’s the country’s only not-for-profit dog camp, and its need-based program presents grants to people who lack the resources to pay for their pet’s cancer treatments. The organization also funds canine-cancer research, benefiting four-legged friends everywhere.
