Stanford Inn: #1 for dogs

By: DogTrekker Staff
A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Stanford Inn owners Joan and Jeff Stanford regularly travel with their four-legged family members, Parker, Ellie and Pepper. Informed by those journeys and four decades of innkeeping, they fully understand what makes a property welcoming for both pups and people. The inn’s impeccable hospitality and incredibly dog-friendly accommodations, amenities and outdoor spaces set this eco-minded property apart.

The Stanford Inn has welcomed dogs (and the occasional cat, tortoise, iguana, parrot or Vietnamese pot-bellied pig) since its earliest days. Nearly all rooms and suites here accommodate pups with a modest pet charge, and there are no size or breed restrictions. At check-in, dogs receive a welcome treat made from ingredients that are gentle on even the most sensitive stomachs.

In the rooms and suites, you’ll find dog sheets that protect the furniture, so furry friends can lounge comfortably on beds and couches. There are stainless steel food and water dishes for use during a stay. Pick-up bags and convenient, property-wide trash receptacles make walks easy.

Four-legged guests are welcome in the Stanford Inn bookstore, and well-behaved pets often dine with their families in the lobby. The culinary team serves organic, house-made dishes just for dogs. Outside, 10 acres of trails, gardens and grassy expanses offer plenty of room to run. Many local trails and beaches are also open to leashed pups.
