A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. The top-rated hotel for discerning travelers visiting the Berkeley and Oakland area, Claremont Club & Spa, a Fairmont Hotel earns extra points for the hospitality it extends to our furry friends. In the Oakland Hills, the Claremont serves up sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and oozes sense of place and history—the hotel first opened in 1915. The property has been newly renovated, making it prime time for a visit.

Claremont Club & Spa can easily serve as a self-contained oasis for a cozy winter getaway, where you while away the hours ensconced in the castle-like property and amid its 22-acre grounds. The freshly updated rooms are spacious and feature large soaking tubs. Wellness is big here too, thanks to a full-service spa, multiple swimming pools, fitness classes and a tennis complex.

Pups are properly pampered at the luxury resort, too. Up to two dogs of all sizes are welcome for a $49 per day add-on charge. Fluffy dog beds and water and food bowls are provided in-room and dog treats are always available at the concierge desk.

Please note that dogs are not allowed in the hotel’s restaurants, club or spa, but you can leave them unattended in your room with a “Dog in Room” sign available to hang on the door.

Nearby, you can get out on the exceptionally dog-friendly trails in the East Bay Regional Park District, boasting 120,000 acres across 73 parks. (Note: the City of Berkeley bylaws require all dogs are kept on a leash in public spaces.) The hotel offers a curated list of dog-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood and room service is always an appealing option!
