Late spring, when roads are clear but the mountains are still frosted with snow, is a gorgeous time to enjoy the majesty of the High Sierra. Off-season rates make it more affordable and vacancies at high-demand properties are more available than at the height of summer.
The fishing season in Mono County opens April 26, adding an extra dimension to a spring fling in the Eastern Sierra. And while Fifi might not care much for fly-fishing, she’s sure to enjoy hanging out with family members waiting back at the rental to pan-fry the catch. Dog-friendly rentals here come with quick access to golf, hiking, sightseeing and some of the top trout streams in the West.
On the West side of the Sierra crest, in the Yosemite Region, dog-friendly vacation rentals come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. The area around Groveland offers an especially bountiful selection. Pine Mountain Custom Rentals manages a variety of rentals at Pine Mountain Lake, a resort community with a lake, marina, golf, beaches and more, all just a short drive from the northern entrance to Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Region Resorts is another reliable property-management firm with dog-friendly rentals near the park.
