The magic of Mendocino County is on full display at Mendocino Stone Ranch, a 50-acre event venue and retreat shaped by a local visionary. After retiring in the hills off Fish Rock Road, the late Peter Mullins slowly created this stunning showplace that’s now managed by his daughter, Genevieve. Pebble-lined paths weave through the redwoods here, and unique structures accommodate overnight guests.

Before he settled in the redwood groves near Gualala, Mullins amassed a collection of gorgeous stone, brick and tile. More than 30 art installations on the Stone Ranch grounds incorporate pieces from that collection. The ridgetop Fish Rock Watch Tower offers views of the Pacific, and majestic pines shade a tranquil pergola patio.

The Redstone House anchors the Stone Ranch property. Renovated in 2012, it sleeps 12 and has sliding glass doors that open to the natural splendor outside. The home’s red sandstone patio is outfitted with a fire pit, tile mosaics from the Catalina Island seawall, and a wood-fired pizza oven crafted from black granite. Elsewhere on the grounds, the Adobe House sleeps eight, while a dreamy off-grid yurt overlooking the ocean also accommodates overnight guests.

Mendocino Grove welcomes Mendocino neighbors and corporate groups for weddings, family celebrations, company offsites, wellness retreats and other special events. Stately forests and sparkling skies set the stage for gatherings, and the property’s event team can help arrange luxury tented seating, catered meals, cookouts, amenities for accompanying dogs and more.

Visit Mendocino County spotlights both Mendocino Grove and Stone Ranch in its new pet-friendly travel guide, a 24-page publication detailing the region’s top dog-passionate businesses. The helpful guide also highlights attractions like Navarro Vineyards (enjoyed here by Maya, DogTrekker.com’s Director of Barketing) and Point Cabrillo Light Station (a favorite of Barketing Director Emeritus Kayla, pictured on a run with Dana).
