Dog-friendly Southern California

Southern California

Dog-friendly Southern California is known world-wide for its warm, welcoming hospitality, near perfect weather, breathtaking beauty and fun-filled recreation for you and your best dog buddy. Be sure to visit dog-friendly Huntington Beach and its famous Dog Beach and the Greater Palm Springs Region, one of the most dog-friendly destinations on the planet.
We’ve DogTrekk’d through the rugged beauty of the Desert Region, where cool tile floors invite afternoon snoozes; basked in the glitz and glam of Los Angeles County, and chilled out in the laid-back lifestyle of Orange County’s dog-loving beach communities. We’ve also ventured into ever dog-friendly, ever sunny San Diego to bring you the best of SoCal dog travel. You and your pooch can rest assured that in Southern California, almost every day is a dog day of summer.

The Dog Beach here in Surf City has become famous throughout Southern California. More than a mile of undeveloped beach along one of the prettiest stretches of the coast makes it very popular both for locals and out-of-town visitors. Marilyn loves it, and there are other places where simply going for a walk becomes much more special. more »

Where to stay? Is it really possible to find a beautiful place near the beach for you and your pooch? In Surf City USA, absolutely. For years, many hotels in Huntington Beach have been on the leading edge of dog-friendly accommodations. Though Marilyn and I have not opted for a staycation yet, I can’t say we're not tempted. And the good news is, in most cases, we’d be staying right next to the ocean on one of the most beautiful beaches in California.

Recently, the city introduced “the HB Collection,” four premier oceanfront resorts in the heart of Huntington Beach that have joined forces with more than 1,400 guest rooms, all within a half-mile and walking distance to downtown shopping, local artisanal restaurants and the historic Pier. And guess what? They are all pet-friendly. more »
