Hike, sniff and park it on the alamo creek bikeway

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Yes it’s primarily a bike path, but dog walkers will find much to enjoy along the shaded, 4.4-mile Alamo Creek Bikeway, which meanders through southern Vacaville and connects several municipal parks, including Nelson, Patwin and Beelard. Want to keep going? The trail intersects the Southside Bikeway connecting downtown Vacaville to the north and Al Patch Park (sports fields and restrooms!) to the south.

The Southside trail follows the route of the old Sacramento Northern Railway, a 183-mile, electrified interurban train system that carried travelers between Northern California communities in the days before every family had a car. Flora and fauna along both trails are rich and diverse, and it gets colorful in fall!
