China Basin Park

China Basin Park

China Basin Park, situated on the border of the South of Market and Mission Bay neighborhoods, is a key feature of the initial phase of the Mission Rock project. This new mixed-use community is being developed by The Port of San Francisco in collaboration with Mission Rock Partners, which includes the Giants and Tishman Speyer. The park, under Port jurisdiction, offers five acres of active open space. This includes a vibrant waterfront park connected to the surrounding area via an extension of the Bay Trail’s bike and pedestrian paths.

The park is home to native trees and plants that frame the Great Lawn at its heart. A sand beach near the water’s edge creates a welcoming play area for children. And best of all, it features a fenced, off-leash dog run and play area, making it welcoming for dog owners.

China Basin Park is equipped with gender-neutral public restrooms, food and beverage concessions, bike parking, and amphitheater-style seating facing McCovey Cove. Additional amenities at the park include the Great Lawn with impressive views, a Gathering Grove with communal benches, new connections to the Bay Trail, a Stormwater Garden with an elevated boardwalk, Shoreline Sands for recreation, and a Central Plaza for gatherings and dining.
