Tahoe abounds with dog-friendly places to stay, but for location and convenience, it’s hard to beat Zephyr Cove Resort. While Zephyr Cove Lodge is not dog-friendly, The Cabins at Zephyr Cove, a cluster of 28 cabins in a scenic lakeshore location on the Nevada side of the lake, just minutes from South Shore casinos, restaurants and entertainment venues welcome dogs.
Most of the nicely updated cabins have kitchens, which makes the what-to-do-at mealtime question a lot more manageable if you are traveling with pets.
The dog-friendly Zephyr Cove RV & Campground is just across the road from Zephyr Cove Resort’s cabin complex and offers 93 RV sites accommodating vehicles up to 40 feet long, and 47 walk-in tent sites with bear lockers, picnic tables and barbecues.
Dogs aren’t allowed on the swimming beach at Zephyr, but you can walk north, over and around an area defined by shapely granite boulders, to a secluded piece of shoreline where it’s OK for Dash to explore without a tether around his neck. Zephyr Cove cabins are reasonably priced, with seasonal packages offered throughout the year.
