Dragoon Gulch Trail

Dragoon Gulch Trail

The relatively new Dragoon Gulch Trail system was built with the help of many individuals and agencies.

Starting at Woods Creek Park, the trail system creates a 2.5-mile loop. Trails travel along a natural creek up to the vista that provides a spectacular view of the City and its surrounding mountain ranges.

The trails vary in difficulty making, making various segments perfect for the casual walker and for those who want a strenuous hike or jog.

The main entrance to the trail is at Woods Creek Park. From the Bay Area and Central Valley take Highway 108 East to Highway 49 North into the City of Sonora. From Highway 49 turn left on Woods Creek Drive (across from the Mother Lode Fairgrounds) and follow the signs to the trail. If traveling south on Highway 49 into the City, stay on Highway 49 and turn right on Woods Creek Drive.

• Dogs must be on leashes. Please pick up after your pet.

Keeping our trails beautiful and dog-friendly is crucial to ensure everyone enjoys the great outdoors. Some people want to ban dogs from public spaces, but we believe dogs are essential members of our community. They bring joy, companionship, and energy to our hikes. To keep our trails open to our furry friends, we must be responsible. Pick up after your dog, keep them on a leash where required, and respect other trail users. By doing our part, we can ensure that our beloved pups remain welcome on all trails, allowing your pack to continue exploring and enjoying nature together.
