Hikers can explore broad swaths of open space offering beautiful views of Napa Valley vineyards, and dogs can run freely on almost 30 off-leash acres at the top of this hilly, 157-acre park northwest of downtown Napa.
Much of the off-leash space is on the site of an old fruit orchard. The gnarly plum trees are beautiful in late winter, when they are covered in beautiful and fragrant white blossoms.
In spring, a variety of wildflowers pop up on the sides of the trail, so make sure to bring your camera.
The Prune Picker’s trail through the off-leash area is a 1/2-mile circuit. For a longer loop, park at Alston Park’s Dry Creek Loop trailhead.
Alston Park also includes a fenced and well tended three-acre dog park known as Canine Commons.
