Located beside I-5 in downtown Sacramento, Discovery Park is a 302-acre park with a 32-mile bike trail, ball fields, picnic sites, fishing & boat launches. Recreational boaters get the chance to explore both of Sacramento’s wild and scenic rivers.
During the winter, you might see Discovery Park underwater during high water. Discovery Park is part of the Sacramento area flood control system. It is designed to flood to take pressure off American River levees when there is a lot of water in the system.
While there are many options for pets to run off leash, Sacramento County has leash laws that require dogs to be safely under control and leashed at all times outside of designated “off-leash” areas, including all County Parks.
