The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, one of the top hotels in Sonoma wine country, rose from the ashes of Boyes Hot Springs, a commercial hot springs and hotel developed in the late 19th century on the site of a mineral spring and healing ground sacred to native Americans.
The current hotel, built in California mission style, rose from the ashes in 1927 and immediately was acclaimed as one of the finest lodging establishments in Northern California.
The latest round of renovations, completed in 2000, included the addition of 60 suites, function space, landscaping and a parking garage.
