Lappert's Ice Cream in Sausalito serves what they call “Super Premium” ice cream—flavors that actually taste like their ingredients instead of vague approximations. During my visit, I watched the server dish out scoops of Guava, Macadamia Nuts, Pineapple, Mango, and Kona Coffee, each one noticeably smoother and richer than standard ice cream. The small shop has that Sausalito waterfront energy, with outdoor seating where you can sit facing the bay while eating.
The real draw if you’re traveling with a dog is that they’re genuinely welcoming about it. My dog sat comfortably at the outdoor table while I ate, and the staff didn’t make a fuss or treat us like we were breaking some unspoken rule. There’s enough foot traffic and activity around the waterfront area to keep things interesting without feeling chaotic. The outdoor space gets decent shade, which matters if you’re planning to linger on a warm day.
The flavors rotate and change based on what’s in season, and the quality difference from the usual ice cream chain is obvious from the first bite. The texture is dense and creamy, and the flavors taste genuine—the Kona Coffee actually tastes like coffee, not just “coffee-flavored.” Portions are reasonable, and you’re paying for better ingredients, not inflated prices.
The location itself is convenient if you’re already exploring Sausalito’s waterfront or need a break from the shops along Bridgeway. It’s walkable from the ferry terminal and near enough to the local parks that you could easily combine a visit here with a quick walk along the water. The staff seemed genuinely interested in making sure dogs were comfortable, which goes a long way. If they have dog treats available, ask—it’s worth knowing before you order, though it’s not essential.
