Locke-Paddon Wetland Community Park is one of the few protected wetlands in Monterey county, with a series of freshwater vernal ponds where you can see all kinds of birds. There is a floating walkway that goes across the water. It is also the northern edge of the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. There are picnic tables on the hill to enjoy a meal while you check out all the birds around you.
Dogs are allowed, however must be leashed at all times and kept away from the ponds and birds.
