Please note: dogs are not allowed at Monterey State Beach North of the Monterey Beach Resort hotel. Dogs on leash are allowed at Monterey State Beach South of the Monterey Beach Resort hotel.
Several beaches under different jurisdictions run together here, so make sure you and your leashed dog don’t stray out of the area between Wharf No. 2 and Seaside State Beach.
This is a good people-watching beach, and a favorite for surfing, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, kite-flying, volleyball, beach-combing and tide-pooling.

To get there, take the Seaside exit off Highway 218, west of Highway 1.
