Built in 1951 as a motor lodge, Queen’s Inn by the River was purchased in 1964 by Nelson and Naomi “Queen” Ashby and renamed Cedar Lane Lodge. In 2003 it was taken over by the Ashbys’ granddaughter and renovated as an eight-room, upscale retreat at the bottom of a hill next to the Fresno River. Adjacent to it is the Idle Hour Winery, the first winery in Oakhurst.
Tastings take place Wednesday through Sunday evenings in the inn’s dog-friendly wine and beer garden, where almost 100 other premium wines and craft beers are available. Live entertainment is featured in summer.
Pets required to be housebroken and friendly; no barkers, please. Owners must clean up after their pets immediately. Please discuss your pets with management when making a reservation.
