The San Dieguito River Park is the agency responsible for creating a natural open space park in the San Dieguito River Valley.
From the Coast to Crest Trail that will someday link trails and paths from Del Mar to Volcan Mountain – over 70 miles – to the celebration and preservation of our local heritage and natural resources, the San Dieguito River Park is creating recreational and educational opportunities that interface gently with nature.
Highland Valley Trail is a 4 mile out and back trail located near Escondido, California and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Dogs are permitted on most trails within the River Park, unless otherwise noted. (See Trails Information for restrictions.) Dogs must be leashed at all times for the safety of your dog and other trail users.
