Santa Rosa Mountain Road

Level: Moderate
Elevation Gain: 1000 ft.
Hiking Time: 5 hours
Trail Length: 10 miles

Directions:

To reach the beginning of this hike, turn south off of Highway 111 in Palm Desert onto Highway 74. Continue up the scenic, steep, winding grade for 20 miles, and look to your left for a green sign for Santa Rosa Mountain at the beginning of the dirt road. Head up this road (be careful of the rocks and potholes) for almost 9 miles.

The road will eventually enter a dense forest area just after treating you to vistas of the Anza-Borrego Desert south of the Santa Rosa Mountain.

Park in the first convenient area to the left of the road. The road is your trail for this hike.
