Shahrzad Fine Persian Cuisine in Rancho Cordova sits on Sunrise Boulevard and actually welcomes dogs on its outdoor patio—which is genuinely rare for a restaurant that takes its food seriously. When I visited with my dog, I was struck by how much thought they’d put into making us both comfortable without making it feel like an afterthought.
The menu leans into traditional Persian cooking. The koobideh comes properly charred, the kabobs are tender without being overcooked, and the Barg has that kind of depth you only get from time-honored recipes and quality ingredients. Nothing on the menu feels like it was simplified or rushed. The kitchen clearly respects what they’re doing, which matters.
What made the patio experience actually work was the setup itself. It’s genuinely spacious, so you’re not crammed next to other tables, and the staff brings water bowls without you having to ask. They also offered treats, which my dog appreciated. More importantly, they didn’t hover or act nervous about having a dog there—they just treated it as a normal part of their business.
The service strikes a good balance. Staff members are attentive without being intrusive, checking in on both you and your dog without overdoing it. You can tell they’re trained to handle the logistics of outdoor dining with animals without making it awkward.
If you’re in the Rancho Cordova area and want to actually eat well while your dog hangs out with you, this isn’t a place that’s trying to capitalize on dog-friendly marketing. They genuinely seem comfortable with it. The food quality means you’re not compromising just to get a patio table, which is the real win here. Bring a water bowl of your own if you want to be extra cautious, but they’ve got you covered either way.
