Sharp Park Beach

Sharp Park Beach

Sharp Park Beach and the recreation trail on the levee above it are very popular with dog owners. The park includes picnic areas, restrooms and one of the longest fishing piers in the state (dogs not allowed on pier).

DogTrekkers should park south of the pier (many choices) and walk south toward the rugged coastal promontory known as Mori Point, with the beach on the right and Sharp Park golf course on the left. You’ll see many dogs romping off-leash on the beach as you near Mori Point. The Pacifica City Council is reviewing a proposal to make part of the beach officially off-leash legal. Elsewhere, keep your dog on a leash and be prepared for the wind and fog that often envelop this area, creating a moody ambiance.

At the end of the beach, an easy trail leads up Mori Point, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, for great views up and down the coast.

Directions:
To reach the beach from Highway 1, take the Paloma Avenue/Francisco Boulevard exit, take Paloma west to Beach Boulevard, turn left, travel south to the pier and cruise along until you find a good spot to park.

Please note that while this is a beautiful spot, the current is very strong, so it’s best to keep your dogs out of the water. Remember to bring pick-up bags — and use them!
