Spring Lake Regional Park in Santa Rosa spreads across 320 acres with 9.7 miles of well-maintained trails that wind through lush landscapes—plenty of ground to cover with your dog. The park’s centerpiece is a picturesque 72-acre lake where you can spend time boating and picnicking. Dogs need to stay on a leash no longer than 6 feet throughout the park, which keeps things safe for everyone using the trails and facilities.

The lake area has some quirks worth knowing about. While dogs aren’t allowed on the sandy beach, you can hang out on the lawn and around the seasonal swimming lagoon with your dog, giving you spots to relax and let your dog enjoy the water in other ways. Bring a picnic and you’ve got a solid day planned.

If you want to stay overnight, the campground runs daily from May through September, then weekends and holidays only from October through April. You’ll find potable water, restrooms with electrical outlets, flush toilets, and showers. There are no RV hook-ups, so this is tent camping or small trailers only. Camping here with your dog under the stars is genuinely nice—the setting feels removed from the hustle even though you’re in Santa Rosa.

The park also has the Environmental Discovery Center on site if you want to learn about local wildlife and ecosystems while you’re there. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a full day or weekend without running out of things to do, whether that’s hiking the various trails, hanging around the lake, or just settling in at a campsite.

Since camping seasons and pet policies can shift, it’s worth confirming details directly with the park before you show up with your camping gear loaded in the car.
