If you’re planning a road trip of any distance, look to California’s Rest Areas when you need to take a break. These rest areas are designed to provide highway travelers, including their pooches, a safe and convenient place to refresh before continuing with their journey.
California rest areas are roadside facilities that provide, at a minimum, parking, restrooms and a pet area for the four-legged members of the family. In addition, some may have information kiosks, vending machines, picnic areas and a number even have RV Dump Stations facilities.
These rest areas are maintained and funded by Caltrans. Some are closed due to maintenance issues, its always best to have a alternate rest stop just in case.
The Tejon Pass Rest Area includes these amenities:
Pet area
Restroom
Water
Picnic tables
Phone
Handicapped access
RV dump station
Food Vending
A message from Caltrans: when driving on our highways and you see flashing lights, please follow the law by moving over (or slowing down) to protect highway workers and CHP officers. Their families, including their dogs, want to be sure they get home safe!
