Formerly known as D Street Park, Veterans Memorial Park connects Galanis Park and John Galvin Park. It was purchased in 1972 with assistance from Housing and Urban Development (HUD). An Urban State Grant valued at 1.9 million dollars was utilized to fund the upgrades and renovation of the park.
Veterans Memorial Park now boasts a 2,200 square foot healthy-themed Ontario child and family resource community center, two new-age appropriate playgrounds, sports fields, dog-friendly walking paths, a California-friendly garden and outdoor exercise equipment. The park was renamed in honor of all our Veterans of Foreign Wars and became Veterans Memorial Park in 2011.
