On a camping trip at Pogie Point Campground Lake Pillsbury in the Mendocino National Forest of Lake County, California, Wendi and her dogs Mimi and Mei Mei woke up one morning to the sound of several hooves walking through their camp. Wendi opened the trailer door and a herd of elk took off running down to the dry lakebed! Wendi was able to catch a photo of Mimi looking out at the elk. What a fantastic moment! Thank you, Wendi, for sharing your dog-friendly adventures with us.

We love hearing paw-tested stories from our readers and want to share them with other DogTrekkers. Please join our growing group of official ‘Paw-Testers’ by writing in to tell us about your favorite dog-friendly places in California.
