Pit Bull Awareness Day & Halloween Costume Walk
October 28, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
FreeJoin Chako Pit Bull Rescue in Old Sacramento to celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day and get into the holiday spirit by showcasing your (and your dog’s) costumes! Costumes are optional but HIGHLY recommended.
PLEASE only bring dogs that are suitable to this event and do well around other dogs, horses, crowds, noise, etc. DO NOT bring dog reactive dogs, dogs that are afraid of people, or dogs with aggression issues of any kind. If your dog is not appropriate for this event, that’s okay — we invite you to come along without your dog (we need hands to hand out flyers, hold banners, and just show solidarity).
If you are bringing your dog, please make sure your dog is on solid equipment, preferably backed up. Make sure your dog cannot slip out of a collar, etc.
We will hold this event even if it sprinkling since most of Old Sac is covered, but it may be cancelled in the event of MODERATE to HEAVY rain, so just keep tabs on the meetup and your emails (and our FB page) if it looks like there will be rain.
We will meet on the grassy area in front of the RR museum at 10:30 a.m. Please be on time to participate. Keep a 6-10 foot distance between dogs at all times to ensure we present only a positive image (obviously if your dogs live together you can walk them closer).
ONLY one dog per handler (so one person should not come walking two dogs). And, as mentioned previously, we welcome anyone to join us, even if you cannot bring a dog. Walk lasts ABOUT an hour (time is always approximate). We plan to walk from the RR museum to the arena/DOCO. There are a few options for outdoor restaurants where well-behaved dogs are welcome after the walk.
So come on out and help us celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day!
